ATS Technique and Tactics - Phase 1

This is considered an active start phase where the focus is on play on skis. Environments should be structured with fun as the focus. Skiers learn the fundamentals of a balanced, parallel stance through games and fun exercises. As skiers progress, they can be exposed to all types of environments - moguls, kids' terrain features, jumps, tree trails, and basic race courses such as NASTAR. Ski teachers in this phase must be nurturing, patient, energetic and fun.
