Moving to Florida as a young child didn’t give Hagen Kearney many chances to snowboard. That all changed when a family vacation turned into a family relocation to Telluride, CO.

New to the World Cup circuit in 2012, Kearney has proven his mettle with impressive Nor-Am finishes, including a whopping eight top-ten finishes in 2012. His World Cup fifth-place finish at Valmalenco, Italy is proof that this versatile athlete has lots of podiums to clean up in the years to come.

In 2013 Kearney stepped it up again, competing in seven World Cup’s and making the finals at nearly all the World Cup’s he entered. He took the SBX team win at the World Cup opener in Montafon, Austria. During his second season on the SBX team, Kearney continued to impress with consistent points on the World Cup tour and a ninth-place finish at the 2014 X Games.

      HAGEN SAYS
My season was definitely fun. It was awesome to finally compete at X Games for the first time. I grew up watching that event and see it as the pinnacle of the sport, so to get ninth and an opportunity to race in the small final was a great experience.

      FIRST TRACKS
In 2000, when Kearney was nine years old, he was able to travel to Telluride, but the Kearney family still lived in Florida. To his delight, the family moved to Telluride at the end of 2000. After that, all he wanted to do was snowboard. He remembers, “My brother and I got a private coach in 2005, Jason Troth. He basically taught me how to snowboard and he was my coach/mentor up until the previous season, when I moved to Summit County and joined ISTC. The skills I learned from Jason and ISTC combined really helped my snowboarding get to the level I wanted it to get to. “

      OFF THE SNOW
Kearney stays active by skating a lot. He says, “I’ve been skating for longer than I’ve been snowboarding. You might find me on the highway riding my Harley or playing drums or guitar. I also like to either be in the gym or doing TRX.”
