The hometown of many a winter sports prodigy, Steamboat Springs has produced another professional snowboarder in Taylor Gold. With the ideal Olympic last name, Gold's solid foundation landed him a spot on the 2011 FIS World Championships team in Spain. Add to that his silver medal in halfpipe at the Junior World Championships at the end of the season and it’s clear why Gold is now a member of the U.S. Snowboarding rookie squad. After a solid start, Gold was sidelined by injuries for most of 2012.
Sure enough, 2013 went very well for this rookie, as he earned an invite to X Games Tignes. Additionally, his win at the U.S. Revolution Tour led him to the Burton U.S. Open, where he placed sixth amongst a deep field of talented riders.
