Beyond the Snow: The Elite Athlete Education Program

The United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) is as concerned about an athletes' personal and professional development as it is with their athletic accomplishments. The USSA is aware of the challenges that today's athletes face when dealing with the demands placed upon them as a member of the U.S. Ski Team or U.S. Snowboarding. Expectations are high and at times it may seem overwhelming to balance training and a competition schedule with the desire to earn a degree, research career opportunities, or to develop an action plan for retirement. To assist athletes in identifying helpful resources that will better prepare them for life after their athletic career is over, the Beyond the Snow: The USSA Elite Athlete Education Program was created.

The USSA is committed to providing educational support to U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding athletes through our annual education programs, which include:

Investing in Your Future Tuition Assistance Program ▪ Laptops for Learning ▪ Hoyt Dartmouth Language Program ▪ University of Utah Resident Tuition ▪ USOC Opportunities ▪ Westminster College Partnership ▪ Preparing Tomorrow’s Leaders Mentor Program ▪ USSA Rookie Camp ▪ Tomorrow's Champions Youth Program ▪ Sport Agent Program ▪ Communications Training

Many of the programs listed above are completely funded by donations to the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation. The Foundation is the non-profit, fundraising arm of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.

All the programs that are available to our current national team athletes and alumni are listed on the side navigation under college assistance, athlete services, sport agent program, etc. The 2008 Team Manual, which outlines other opportunities and benefits for national team athletes, can be viewed by clicking here.
