Coming Together as a Team

Every summer, rookie athletes from all over the country converge on the USSA Center of Excellence in Park City, UT for the annual Rookie Camp. It’s their first opportunity to see what it means to be a part of the Team. The week takes talented individuals and hands them the tools they need to become well-rounded, Best in the World athletes.

They learned from some of the best elite athletes in the world. Lindsey Jacobellis, Devin Logan, Marco Sullivan, Dylan Ferguson, Bryan Fletcher, Jessie Diggins, Ashley Caldwell and Colby Granstrom all took time away from their training to welcome the new athletes to the Team and teach them a few tricks they’ve learned from years on the international competition circuit.

One of the core values of the USSA is Team. Witnessing these rookies interacting with the trailblazers of their sports showed just how much that means to these athletes. When they’re on the snow, all of these athletes are competition—but they’re also teammates, and that means working together. It’s always amazing to experience athletes coming together as a Team for the first time.

As Olympic medalist Lindsey Jacobellis told the athletes: "Always put more into your sport than you hope to get out." I look forward to seeing all of the accomplishments that are sure to come from these rookie athletes.
