Activities by Phase

SkillsQuest is loaded with activities that are supported by the Alpine Training System. By doing SkillsQuest, athletes can be rewarded for working on those things that will bring out their full potential in the long run. Coaches can track their progress and parents can see how their children are growing in all aspects of their sport.

The Alpine Training System is built upon six developmental phases. Find your phase, and choose the activities in your phase using the tabs above.

Phase 1 Ages 2-6, introduction to sport

Phase 2 Ages 6-10, 1-4 years skiing

Phase 3Pre-puberty, girls ages 10-13, boys ages 11-14, 4-8 years skiing

Phase 4 Puberty, girls ages 11-14, boys ages 12-15, 5-9 years skiing

Phase 5 Post-puberty, girls ages 12-16, boys ages 14-17, 6-11 years skiing

Phase 6 Full maturation, girls ages 16+, boys 17+, over 10 years skiing

Be creative! Add your own activities. SkillsQuest isn't designed to narrow down choices, but rather to encourage even greater variety within a specific area of focus. Activities from other phases can be incorporated, but work to complete and master the activities in the current phase first.

"Keep an open mind to try new things. Ski racing isn't just about mastering one specific talent - it's about developing a variety of skills that can be used in all situations." - Ryan Cochran-Siegle
