Turning around gates is a quick process that cannot be achieved only with edging and pressuring the ski. Rotation of the ski is the most fundamental skill in turning. Unfortunately as a skill, its importance is often overlooked. Exactly how much to rotate prior to edging and pressure is a difficult decision and must be made by reaction and feel from the ski racer. This is difficult to learn by only skiing gates.

SkillsQuest rotation drills specifically target the rotary skill by emphasizing the legs turning in the hip sockets. The ultimate objective is to separate the actions of the upper body from the lower body so they do not negatively influence each other.
