Ben Ferguson is one of those prodigy riders who astound the snowboarding scene with effortless skill and progression. He got his start at nine when Burton signed him to its Smalls Team. He's since graduated to the older pack of Burton riders, but he's no less progressive with his halfpipe and slopestyle capabilities.

Ferguson made his mark in 2010 with a halfpipe win at the final Rev Tour stop of the season, and he stepped it up again in 2011 with a 10th-place finish at the Mammoth Grand Prix stop. Ferguson kept his momentum going with an incredible 2012 season, but it was the 2013-14 season that really put Ben Ferguson on the map.

Ben kicked off the Olympic season with a third-place finish at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix at Copper Mountain. He then continued to impress fans and judges alike, making finals at nearly every event of the season. His top results include fifth at X Games and another third at the final Grand Prix in Mammoth, narrowly missing the 2014 Olympic team. He then went on to finish the season strong with a fourth at the Burton U.S. Open at Vail.

FIRST TRACKS

His father's passion for riding was what got him out on the snow, and Ferguson was six years old when he first got on a snowboard. A sticker on the front of his board showed him which side was supposed to face downhill, and after some initially trying moments, he was hooked.

OFF THE SNOW
When Ferguson is off the slopes, he enjoys hanging out with friends, skateboarding, going to the lake or the river, fishing, and drawing.
