A Park City local, Joss Christensen picked up slopestyle and halfpipe skiing by living within paper-airplane distance from the best park features in the world. With his well-rounded bag of tricks, clean style and infectiously positive attitude, it’s no surprise that Christensen achieved eight podiums last winter – notably the Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix, the Aspen/Snowmass Open and AFP World Championships. Christensen hits both pipe and big air events, but his slopestyle runs are money and feature killer double corks in both directions.

After battling and overcoming a knee injury in late 2012, Christensen was still able to make his rounds during the 2013 competition circuit. Taking third at The Dumont Cup (an AFP platinum-level event) in April, Christensen ended up placing fifth in the AFP Overall World Ranking.

JOSS SAYS
The contest season ended at Whistler in April, and it has been pretty rough for me this year. I had to miss a few crucial contests due to recovering from a knee injury. I still ended up traveling more than I ever have and got to see some amazing places, so it’s still been a good journey. I was able to crack the top 10 for slope overall, and hopefully top five in the Overall standings.

FIRST TRACKS
Christensen’s parents got him started on skis at the age of three at his backyard mountains of Park City and Deer Valley. It wasn't long before he was one of the smallest guys sending the biggest kickers and locking onto the longest rails.

OFF THE SNOW
When not skiing, Christensen likes to play video games and get to the gym. In the summer it's all about mountain biking and skating the Park City skate park. "I pretty much try to stay outdoors and away from my couch!”
