After ripping Killington Resort, VT as a tyke, Robert Cone stepped up his game at Burke Mountain Academy. He then boosted onto the NCAA Carnival circuit in his freshman year at Middlebury and nearly landed on the giant slalom podium at NCAA nationals. From there, it was off to the U.S. Development Team with the rest of the story yet to come.

Cone thought 2012 was a breakout season, then came 2013. He posted two NorAm super G top 10's and then five junior podiums over a four-day period at the Nature Valley U.S. Alpine Championships at Squaw Valley. He also nabbed the junior combined title at Squaw, which doubled as a bronze medal among senior racers.

      FIRST TRACKS
In his early years as a junior racer, Cone spent much of his time tearing around the woods and trails in his hometown of Killington, Vermont. Blasting through the J5, J4 and J3 ranks, Cone began his four-year education at Burke Mountain Academy (BMA). Rob was a skilled J2 that skied at a level greater than a tall and thin frame would typically allow. Although he was fast and progressing, Cone was no prodigy. The secret to Cone’s success as a young racer has been steady and incremental development. His first year in college allowed him the time and venue to put on elite-level mass and strength, size he would use to reach an international level of racing.

      OFF THE SNOW
Cone enjoys a round or two on the links, sometimes with former U.S. Ski Team racer and sister Lindsay, who skis for the University of Denver.
