Sixth for Teller in Are Skicross

ARE, Sweden (March 15) – Olympian John Teller (Mammoth Lakes, CA) edged his way into sixth Saturday during the first of two skicross competitions at a World Cup double-header weekend in Are, Sweden. Teller skied into second place during the small final, which was good enough for sixth behind race winner Victor Oehling Norberg of Sweden. The athletes head back the hill up for another skicross race on Sunday before World Cup Finals in La Plagne, France next Sunday.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Olympian John Teller (Mammoth Lakes, CA) edged his way into sixth Saturday during the first of two skicross competitions at a World Cup double-header weekend in Are, Sweden.
  • Teller won his first two heats but finished last in the semifinal, which advanced him to the small final. He then fought his way into second place, which was good enough for sixth.
  • The result boosted Teller to 11th in the overall World Cup skicross standings with 208 points, just 12 points behind Jouni Pellinen. With two events remaining, Teller has a decent chance of cracking the top ten.
  • Joe Swensson (Niantic, CT) skied into 27th.
  • Victor Oehling Norberg of Sweden took the victory ahead of Jonathan Midol of France and Armin Niederer of Switzerland in second and third.
  • The athletes head back the hill up for another skicross race on Sunday before one last event at World Cup Finals in La Plagne, France next Sunday.
