Remembering William McGrath

The ski community is a small one, and it is always hard when we lose one of our own. On October 21st, William McGrath, an accomplished runner and masters ski racer, passed away from complications from colon cancer. He was just shy of his 50th birthday.

Billy was a pillar in the local community of Park City, a great father and a champion of affordable, accessible ski racing. He would do anything to make sure that the sports remained available to our local youth. Billy’s ideals and efforts in supporting young ski racers are aligned with the goals of USSA and junior ski racing. Billy’s memorial in Park City was attended by hundreds whose lives he had touched and those that he had inspired.

The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association sends its condolences to Billy’s friends and the McGrath family.  He was an asset to our sport and our community and he will be greatly missed.

As a tribute, donations may be made to the Bill McGrath Memorial Fund, Youth Sports Alliance, PO Box 681698, Park City, Utah 84068.
